JoAnn Lax, 80 of Lafe, Ark., passed from this life on April 27, 2018, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, Jonesboro, Ark. She was born November 18, 1937, to the late Floyd and Mary (Stricklin) Harrell in St. Louis, Mo. She was a woman who loved life and lived it fully each day with a smile. She enjoyed singing karaoke, going to the river to gamble, yard sales and auctions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Benjamin Lax; a son, Clarence Lax; a grandson, Bobby Dale Thompson; a son-in-law, Jerry Herren; and her sisters, Faye Lancaster and Barbara Yarbro and a special grand dog, Booger.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Don and Tonya Lax of Rector and Terry “Doodle” Douglas Lax of Lafe; her daughters, Euva Herren of Paragould, Martha Sue and Randy Hardin of Paragould, Donna Faye and Dennis Owen of Paragould and Kat Lax Garner of Paragould; grandchildren, Spencer Herren, Rodney Thompson (Jennifer), Jennifer Morris (Michael), Angela Vincent (Matt) Greg Lax, Tosha Wallace, Breanna Wallace, Lee Owen (Shelley) Gregg Owen, Casey Owen, Jarrod Hogan, Denisa Hogan and special grand dog, Archie and a sister, Shirley Dalton of Kennett.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector. The service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 30, at the Ramer’s Chapel Church in Marmaduke. Interment will be at the Ramer’s Chapel Cemetery.
