Cougars Advance to Regional, Tribe Playing for District Title

The Rector Lady Cougars powered through the bracket to a district championship Saturday, beating Bay 9-5 and Armorel 7-3 in the title game. They're slated to play Thursday in the first round at Izard County Consolidated.

The baseball Cougars will also be playing at ICC in their regional, as they advanced in the district with a 3-2 win over Bay before falling to host Armorel 12-0 in the final. They'll be playing Thursday as well.

The Lady Mohawks fell in their first round district tournament game, as they drew top seeded Rivercrest.

Meanwhile, the baseball Mohawks advanced with an 11-1 win over Riverside to reach the semi-finals, and earn a berth in the upcoming regional. They followed that up with a gutsy 2-0 win over Walnut Ridge to earn a berth in today's finals. In the other semi it was Manila over Corning, as the Lions and the Mohawks will battle for the championship and top seeding.

The two Bobcat teams will meet at 2:30 in the seeding game, with the Mohawks and Lions playing at 4:30 at Walnut Ridge.

With a win today, the Mohawks will be playing at 10 a.m. Thursday at Harrison, and with a loss they'll play in the 5:30 p.m. game.

The Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds fell in semi-final play to Salem, then dropped the seeding game to Marked Tree, and will be the fourth seeds from 2A-3 in their regional at EPC.
