PHS Hosts Production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown"
The longstanding tradition of producing top-notch stage productions returned to Piggott High School this past weekend, as the PHS Music Department staged “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”
The popular musical dates to 1967, and is based on characters from the “Peanuts” comic strip by Charles M. Schulz, with PHS band director Jeremy Wortham, who served as director for the production, noted there had been numerous great productions in the past, including “Oklahoma” and “South Pacific,” although it had been some two decades since such an effort was undertaken.
Cast members include Brett Burns as Charlie Brown; Avery Little as Sally Brown; Micah Ermert as Lucy Van Pelt; Ryker Little as Linus Van Pelt; Louis Lin as Schroeder and Stefan Gramling as Snoopy.
Serving as the student director was Noah Gregory, who is also responsible for sound effects. The technical crew for the production included choreographer Makayla Allman; Daniel Stockdill, Brayden Taylor, Clayton Edwards and Skylar Johnson handle lighting; the stage crew includes Garrick Crawford, Sebastian Fraser, Abby McCluskey and Rebecca Woolery and the building crew includes Justice Midkiff, Kirsten Smith and Gage Parks.
The production was staged Friday morning for the student body at PHS, and for the third through sixth graders from PES, with good crowds on hand for the evening performances on Friday and Saturday.
Proceeds from the show will be used to benefit the continued efforts of the PHS Music Department.
