Lady Greyhound Season Ends in Regional

Marmaduke had only one runner get on base via being hit by a pitch as they fell 15-0 to Palestine-Wheatley this past Thursday in their opening round game of the 2A North Regional tournament in Lepanto. Marmaduke finished their season with an 11-11 record.

The Lady Greyhounds went down in order in the top of the first inning as Natalie Lentz, Rachel Martin and Angel Johnson all struck out swinging. The Lady Patriots scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-0 lead. Marmaduke again went down in order in the top of the second inning as Alyssa Henry and Emma Foster struck out swinging before Reesa Hampton watch strike three go by to keep the score 2-0. Palestine-Wheatley banged out five hits in the bottom of the second in helping them plate five runs to make the score 7-0 Lady Patriots.

Karlie Gilliam popped out leading off the top of the third inning for Marmaduke as Maggie Mays struck out. Morgan Joiner was hit by a pitch only to be left on base when Lent struck out for the third out. Palestine-Wheatley scored eight more runs in the bottom half of the third inning to make it 15-0 ending the game via the run rule.

Lentz took the loss for the Lady 'Hounds in her final appearance.
