Sarah Magaline Murray
Sarah Magaline Murray, 85, of Rector, Ark., passed away on May 9, 2018, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital, Paragould, Ark. She was born July 7, 1932, in Booneville, Miss., to the late George and Sarah (Donahoo) Warren. Sarah was well-known for her cooking talent. She ran a restaurant called “Sarah’s Closet” in New Mexico, and people would drive from a few hours away just to taste some of her delicious food. She ran the Hillsboro General Store in New Mexico and also worked for the U.S. Forest Service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Alexander, and her sisters, Rachel Clayton, Louise Carter, Pauline Carey, Ruby Weber and Georgia Evans.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Jimmy and MariBeth Alexander of Fort Bliss, Tex.; a granddaughter, Rianna Alexander; two sisters, Jessie Midkiff and Judy Wheat; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Irby Funeral Home chapel. Interment will be at the Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery, located north of Marmaduke.
