Rector Native Killed in Weekend Crash
The Arkansas State Police report the death of a Rector native in a two vehicle crash Saturday afternoon between Jonesboro and Walnut Ridge. Reports from the ASP's indicated Cynthia Robertson, 48, of Paragould, was killed when the motorcycle on which she was a passenger struck a vehicle which apparently attempted to make a u-turn on U.S Highway 63.
The driver of the motorcycle, Michael Robertson, 43, also of Paragould, was severely injured in the crash and was transported by air ambulance to the Regional Medical Center Trauma Unit in Memphis.
The narrative indicated the Robertson's motorcycle was southbound on U.S. 63 and traveling in the inside lane at the time of the crash. Reportedly, a 2014 Toyota RAV 4, which was traveling southbound in the outside lane, attempted to make a U-turn and the motorcycle struck the SUV in the left front fender. The driver of the second vehicle was not identified in the report.
The crash occurred at 2:45 p.m., conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time. The fatal accident was investigated by Cpl. Aaron Easley of the Arkansas State Police.
