The Arkansas Activities Association announced the All-State selections for high school baseball and softball this week, and three of our local athletes were recognized.

Named to the All-State softball squad was Rector Lady Cougar standout Maddie Hobbs. The workhorse of the RHS team in the circle, Hobbs helped the Lady Cougars to postseason play as they advanced to the Elite Eight of the 1A state tournament at Mountain Home.

She was joined by conference mates Bethany Dobbins of Maynard, Abby Orrick of Hillcrest and Mallory Hartley of Bay.

Chosen to the 3A All-State squad for the Piggott Mohawk baseball team was right-handed pitcher Josh Lyman. He was joined by Cade Burris of Walnut Ridge, Mason Silberstein of Corning and Michael Jorgenson of Manila.
