Piggott School Board Hires PHS Grads to Positions
Members of the Piggott Schools Board of Education met in special session the afternoon of Thursday, May 31, and addressed personnel issues. Following a lengthy executive session, the board voted to hire two PHS grads to fill position at both the high school and elementary.
After waiving the reading of the minutes from the previous regular meeting, the board immediately entered into an executive session.
After an hour of deliberations behind closed doors, the board reconvened. At this point interim-superintendent Barry DeHart recommended the board approve the hire of Mistie Gossett as an elementary teacher. The board unanimously accepted his recommendation. Gossett is a graduate of Piggott High and most recently has been teaching at Holcomb.
Afterward, DeHart offered a recommendation to the board to hire Will Daffron as a special education teacher at Piggott High School. This recommendation was also accepted without dissent. Daffron is also a Piggott grad, and has most recently been employed by the Campbell school district.
The board then voted to adjourn.
The regular monthly meeting for June will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, at the administration building.
