Jonesboro Golfer Records Ace in SCCC Tourney
The Sugar Creek Country Club, of Piggott, hosted its annual two-lady golf tournament on Wednesday, June 6, with 20 teams taking part in the 18-hole event. Out-of-town golfers took the top spots in all three flights, and the day included a hole-in-one by one of the participants.
The first place honors in championship flight went to the team of Barbara Dalton, of Bloomfield, Mo., and Suzie Ruppert of Essex, Mo., as they shot 67. The second place team of Jo Billings and Billie Clayton, of Kennett, also shot 67 while third place went to the team of Janice Hoffman and Kristi Boles, of Dexter, Mo., with a 68.
There was also a tie at the top in “A” flight with first place going to the team of Linda Mason and Bonnie Boatner, of Pocahontas, with a 74. Also shooting 74 to garner second place were Anita Brogdon and Martha Johnson, of Kennett, while third went to Cathy Haywood, of Piggott, and Lorrie Rothe of Jonesboro with a 76.
First place honors in “B” flight went to the team of Mary Wagley and Virginia Henry, of New Madrid, Mo., as they shot 82; second was the team of Glenda Pelham and Paula Calhoun, of Kennett, with a combined score of 83 and third went to the local team of Debbie Chase and June Chronister, of Piggott, with an 84.
During the tournament Joan Primm, of Jonesboro, had a hole-in-one on #7.
Tournament organizers offered their thanks to Piggott State Bank, Shield of Shelter Insurance and Farm Bureau Insurance for their support and to all who made contributions for hole prizes.
