James Robert English
James Robert English, age 87, of Barnhart, Mo., passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Fountainbleau Nursing Center in Festus, Mo. He was born January 27, 1931, in Vildo, Tenn., the son of the late Cordelia (nee Story) and Roy English.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Louise (nee Scheffler) English; a son Bobby (Loretta survives of Jadwin, Mo.) English; a brother, William English; and a sister Rose Jackson.
He is survived by a son, David (Donna) English of Barnhart; grandchildren Crystal Louise (James Ricky, Jr.) Rorie, Breann (Christopher) Landis, Katie (Tyler) Davis, Alexis English and Phillip English; and great-grandchildren Alyssa Davis and Jacob Landis.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Barnhart, an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a National Guard Retiree. He ran the mess hall for the National Guard 220th Engineering Unit in Festus, Mo., and also worked as an auto body repairman.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home in Pevely, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Dr. Alan Bachert, Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Barnhart. Interment with full military honors in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials in his memory are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
