Registrations are still being accepted for the Pollard Beauty Contests, being held in conjunction with this week's annual picnic. The 2018 Pollard Picnic will be held Saturday, July 14, at Pollard and will benefit the continued upkeep of the New Hope Cemetery. In keeping with tradition, fried chicken dinners, music, baseball games, games for children and beauty pageants will highlight the picnic. Recently, the pageant committee announced the following schedule.

At 10 a.m. the Baby Pollard contest will be held for boys and girls ages birth through 12 months. Both a boys and girls division will be judged, and the dress is casual. At 10:30 a.m. the Baby Toddler contest for boys and girls ages one year through 24 months will be held, and the dress for this pageant is also casual clothing. These are the only pageants open to both boys and girls.

The Petite Miss Pollard pageant is set for noon, and will feature girls ages two to four. The attire for this pageant is also casual wear. The Little Miss Pollard pageant will follow at 3 p.m. and is open to girls ages five to seven. This pageant will also feature casual wear as the appropriate attire. At 5 p.m. young ladies ages eight to 12 will compete for the title of Junior Miss Pollard, and this pageant will also feature casual wear only.

The highlight of the evening will begin at 8 p.m. as young ladies ages 13 to 18 compete for the Miss Pollard 2018 crown. This event will be the only one to feature contestants in pageant wear.

The entry fee for each division is $30 and payable the day of the event. All contestants are asked to register before the day of the contest, although there will not be a practice for any of the divisions. Pageant wear is required in the Miss Pollard contest and all other divisions will wear casual clothing. Those wanting to register, or obtain more information, may call 870-598-7907 or 573-778-2535.
