RHSSHOF Announces Class of 2018
The board of directors of the Rector High School Sports Hall of Fame recently announced the members of the class of 2018, which are slated for induction during the annual luncheon set for Labor Day Weekend. This year three former Rector, and Clay County Central, standouts will be honored for their performances as athletes.
The RHSSHOF has four catagories from which inductees may be selected, including athletes, coaches, teams and others who contributed to the programs over the years. This year all three of the inductees are former athletes, and all left their mark in a variety of manners.
Chosen for induction this year are Jim Speer, a member of the Rector High School class of 1974 and former Blackcat; Jimmy Greenway, a standout athlete from the Clay County Central class of 1992; and Hannah Parsley-Rudi, a Rector Lady Cougar from the class of 2008.
In keeping with tradition, the induction ceremony will be part of the annual RHSSHOF luncheon, being held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 1, in the Rector High School gym. During the special gathering, each of the inductees will be presented with a plaque, immediately following the luncheon. During basketball season a special ceremony will be held in which the plaques are deposited in the trophy cases in the RHS gym.
In addition to the luncheon and ceremony, the annul golf tournament will be held Friday, Aug. 31, at the Kennett Country Club. Details on the golf tournament may be obtained by contacting Michele Haley at 870 240-5064 or Michael Lindsey at 870 240-3257.
Meanwhile, information concerning the induction ceremony may be obtained by contacting Owen B. Moseley at 870 935-4039.
The golf tournament, and induction luncheon, are held each year as fundraisers for RHSSHOF, with the monies generated directed toward assisting all of the programs associated with Rector High School.
