Area Native Continues to Recover from Workplace Altercation
Family members report PHS grad Cody Shaw remains in critical, but stable, condition as he continues to recover from head injuries sustained in a workplace incident which occurred July 9, in Hot Springs. Shaw, the son of Jim and Tami (Pounds) Shaw, suffered severe head trauma in the incident, which occurred at his place of employment, and has been hospitalized since. According to reports from the Hot Springs Police Department, the matter continues as an open case and few details have been released.
The information which was shared with the media indicated that police were summoned to the AT&T store at 1412 Higdon Ferry Road at 5:38 p.m. on Monday, July 9, on the report of a fight. When they arrived they found Shaw had sustained a severe head injury and he was transported from the scene for treatment. He has remained hospitalized, and according to social media posts by family members has undergone several surgical procedures. As of Tuesday morning he had not regained consciousness, but has been able to breath on his own for periods of time.
Due to the fact the case is still open, the names of others involved in the incident were not released.
Shaw is a 2004 graduate of Piggott High School, and prior to moving out of the area was a member of the Pollard Fire Department. His mother has established a GoFundMe account in his name at www.gofundme.com As of Tuesday morning, over $10,000 had been raised toward the $20,000 goal to help defray the mounting medical bills.
