Local and regional high school football teams are continuing to practice in preparation for the upcoming regular season.

The Piggott Mohawks will open their season at home on Friday, Aug. 31, as they host the 4A Westside Warriors at Parker Field. The Rector Cougars will open the following Friday, Sept. 7, at home as they take on the Corning Bobcats at Temerian Field.

Tuesday, July 31, the Mohawks conducted a scrimmage under the lights as they continue to work on adding new wrinkles to their offensive schemes. They're also slated to take part in a jamboree at Trumann in the coming week.

Meanwhile, the RHS team continues to condition and prep as well, as they're set to look to improve on last year's 2-6 campaign.

The annual high school football preview may be found in the Aug. 29 edition of the CCTD.
