Mohawk Golf Team Preps for Regular Season Play

Members of the Piggott Mohawk golf teams are busy with pre-season preparation for the season to come, with eight players on the boys squad and three on the girls team. The squads began practice under Coach Alan Rabjohn at the end of July, as they are set to open the season next Tuesday, Aug. 14, at home.

Members of the boys team this year includes former state qualifier Issac Langley, Trey Gossett, Matthew Cheshire, Holden Tarno, Evan Hartwell, Britt Wright, Hunter Midkiff and Nate Lemmons. The three members of the girls squad are Elise Gossett, Micha Harrell and Emma Gossett.

All of the team practices, and home matches, are held at Sugar Creek Country Club.

The teams will play at SCCC on Aug. 14, travel to Blytheville on Aug. 16, and visit Corning on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

They'll return home on Thursday, Aug. 23, and will play at Manila on Aug. 27, and at Batesville on Aug. 28. They'll be back at home to close out the month of August, playing at SCCC on Aug. 30.

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, the boys team will be in action at home, with both teams travelling to Blytheville on Aug. 6, and to Corning on Aug. 10. They'll also be on the road on Aug. 11, as they'll return to Blytheville, with only the boys team in action.

The girls team will play a practice round for district on Sept. 13, at Corning. They will play in their district tournament the following day, Friday, Sept. 14, also at Corning.

The boys district practice rfound will be played Monday, Sept. 17, at Blytheville. They'll compete in their district the following day, Sept. 18, also at Blytheville.

The girls and boys state golf tournaments will be held in late September, with the dates and times yet to be announced.
