Ultimate Oldies Show
Organizers note it's time to make plans for Labor Day weekend, and visitors to Rector are reminded the opening act for the entire weekend will be, by popular demand, the Ultimate Oldies concert, produced by Joe Wessel.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, the ultimate band will strike the down note, and the Rector Community Center will come to life with the sounds of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. But, this time there will be no 45's, eight-tracks or cassettesóand no digitized, homogenized no hermetically sealed versionsóbut live rock and roll music to vibrate the rafters.
Those attending the seventh annual concert can anticipate seeing old friends, and making the event the first of what should be a giant homecoming celebration in Rector. And, since class reunions are always a part of the Labor Day weekend activties, special sections may be reserved for class groups. Among those will be the Rector High School class of 1968, who will mark their 50th this year.
Reserved seating is available at $20 per ticket with regular admission remaining at $15 per ticket. In the past year, the Rector Community Center has invested in more of the padded chairs, offering more opportunity for reserved seating. Refreshments will be available in the kitchen/dining area off the main lobby. Tickets may also be purchased in advance, and picked up at the Will-Call in the lobby the night of the show.
Those wanting more information, or to reserve tickets, may contact Linda Robinson at the City of Rector at 870 595-3035 or may stop by the Rector Water Office in person.
