With football season now just days away, the annual gathering of the PHS “Tribe” is set. Organizers report the Piggott Mohawk football program will host its second annual Fall Kick-Off pre-season rally at 6 p.m. this Thursday, Aug. 23, in the “Old (Scurlock) Gym” on South Garfield Avenue. Special guest speaker will be Dr. Phil Daffron, former All-State Mohawk football player and outstanding running back and defensive back for Arkansas Tech University.

According to organizer Joe Cole, the evening will once-again be a ‘blue collar’ event. The guests will be invited to join the team for the Thursday practice at 4 p.m. and then go directly into the indoor football facility for the informal dinner.

During the evening program, the public will be introduced to the 2018 Mohawk football team and coaches and hear from one of the outstanding players in PHS history. Last year former Piggott and ASU standout Donnie Morrison served as the keynote speaker for the fundraiser.

The admission price is $10 per person, and will be collected at the door. The cost of admission covers the price of the dinner, drinks and the program for the evening. All proceeds will go directly toward supporting the Piggott Mohawk football team and program.

According to event organizer Joe Cole, information will also be available at the kick-off on how Mohawk supporters can help gain former PHS and UofA star Gary Adams a spot in the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.
