Football season gets underway tonight for our local teams, although many senior squads begin last Friday in the "Week 0" games.

The Rector Junior Cougars host the Piggott Junior Mohawks at Temerian Field tonight, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

Tomorrow night the Piggott Mohawks will host the Westside Warriors, as the two teams meet for the 22nd time in series history. The Tribe will be looking to get off to a hot start, while the Warriors fell 53-52 to Greene County Tech last week at Paragould. By the way, the Mohawks own the slimmest of margins in the series, 11-10 in the rivalry which dates back to 1981.

As for the Rector Cougars, they're idle this week as the community prepares for the big Labor Day weekend. They'll begin their campaign next Friday night at home as they host the Corning Bobcats.

The Bobcats are playing host to a fairly-weak 2A Brinkley Tiger team tonight as they will be looking to break their current 32 game losing streak.
