PHS Golf Edges Hoxie, Beats 'Cats and 'Hounds
The Mohawk golf team beat Hoxie in a conference play at Sugar Creek Country Club recently, with Matthew Cheshire medalist as he shot 44. The Tribe also got rounds of 54 from Jordan Simpson, 55 from Wesley Childers and 59 from Nate Lemmons as they edged the Mustangs 153 to 165.
Hunter Holt and Spencer Decker both shot 54s, while Colt Huff carded a 57.
Extra players for the Mohawks included Evan Hartwell with a 56 and Hunter Midkiff with a 61.
Gosnell also competed with two players, as Aaron Parham shot 51 and Chandler Sprouse shot 53.
The PHS girls also took their match with the Lady Mustangs, although the girl's medalist was Hoxie's Chelsea Fitzgerald with a 58. For the Lady Mohawks, Micha Harrell and Emma Gossett both shot 66s while Shawnee Latimer shot 69.
Tuesday afternoon the boys team hosted Corning, Hoxie and Marmaduke with the PHS players winning the day. Medalist honors went to Mohawk Isaac Langley with a 42. Meanwhile for the Tribe, Trey Gossett had a 44 while Simpson and Cheshire carded 48s as the Mohawks won with a score of 134. Extra players were Childers, Midkiff, Hartwell and Lemmons.
Hoxie was second with a 160, paced by Hunter Holt with a 47; Corning was third with 173, with Bryden Hewitt's 56 the best among the Bobcats. Marmaduke also competed with their top round coming from Devon Ivie with a 52 while Trent Dowell shot 56 and Bryson Miller shot 59.
