PHS Golf Teams in Action
The Mohawk golf teams were in action last week at Blytheville, finishing second to Manila. Monday they played at Corning, and took first over the host Bobcats along with Hoxie and Marmaduke. Earning medalist honors for Coach Alan Rabjohn's squad was Matthew Cheshire.
At Blytheville, the Mohawks shot a 140, second to the Lions' 118, while Rivercrest took third with a 149, and Corning was fourth with a 180. For the Tribe, Cheshire and Jordan Simpson shot 45s and Wes Childers cared a 50 with Nate Lemmons as the extra player with a 55.
In girls play, Corning was first with a 153, Manila had a 158 for third and Rivercrest carded a 165 for third place.
In play at Corning on Monday, Cheshire's 41 earned him medalist honors as the Tribe won with a 144. The Mohawks got a round of 50 from Simpson, 53 from Childers and 57 from Evan Hartwell. Extras were Lemmons with a 50 and Hunter Midkiff with a 57.
Marmaduke was second with Devon Ivie shooting 47, Bryson Miller 50 and Trent Dowell and Zack Reese both carding rounds of 53 for a 150.
Hoxie was third with a 151 while the host Corning Bobcats shot 157 on their home course to take fourth place, led by Bryden Hewett with a 49.
The boys were slated to be back in action at Blytheville on Tuesday, and Thursday the girls are scheduled to play a practice round at Corning in preparation for the upcoming district, set for the following day at Corning. Boys district is the following week at Blytheville.
