Zola Josephine Slaton-Taylor-White was born on October 10, 1938, in Nimmons, Ark., to the late George R. and Mary Lou (Stanley) Slaton, and passed away October 12, 2018, at the age of 80 years and two days.

She was preceded in death by two of her siblings, sister, Phyllis Slaton; and brother, Wesley Slaton, both this year.

Josephine worked at Emerson Electric in Kennett, Mo., for years. Later in life, she returned to school and became a paraprofessional, where she worked at Lake Road Elementary School in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Survivors include her sons, Forrest Mitchell (Olivia) Taylor, II of Piggott, Ark., David Anthony Taylor of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Gregory Paul (Teresa) Taylor of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; grandchildren, Major Forrest (Amanda) Taylor, III, George Robert (Julie) Taylor, David Taylor, Gregory Allen Taylor, Dustin Paul Taylor, Falon Nicole Taylor, Zachary Matthew Taylor, Killian Payne Taylor; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (Gary) Foltz of Burton, Mich., Merkey (Sam) Snyder of Piggott, Ark., Nila Slaton of Piggott, Ark.; and several relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, at the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, in Piggott, with Chris Brantley officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens in Kennett, Mo. The grandsons served as pallbearers. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, of Piggott, was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held Sunday evening at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home.
