Denver Stokes, 87, of Beech Grove, Ark., passed away at the Monette Manor, Monette, Ark., on October, 27 2018. He was born in the Blue Cane Community.
Denver’s favorite place to be was working on the farm and driving the John Deere tractor. He was happiest when he could look out over the newly-mowed field and see a job well done. He was a member of the Vines Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Birdie (Lewis) Stokes; his wives, Olena Stokes and Mary Stokes, and his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his sons and their spouses, Denny and May Stokes of Bartlett, Tenn., Dan and Robin Stokes of Beech Grove, Ark., Chris and June Stokes of Paragould and Joe and Wanda Shipman; his daughters, Barbara Barker and Mick of Pollard, Ark., Joyce and Mike Wilson of Parsons, Tenn. and Gwen and Hughie DeBerry; along with 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, at the Piggott Mortuary, with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in the Mitchell Cemetery, Greenway, Ark.
