In their continuing efforts to promote the arts in Clay County, the Clay County Arts Council recent presented a grant check to assist in a special project for Piggott Elementary School PACE-GT students.

Last week, a check was presented to instructor Penny Toombs, and members of the program, with the funds to be used to help send the students on a special trip in early December.

Toombs had applied for the grant in order to assist in the purchase of tickets for students to travel to St. Louis and experience a performance by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The performance is scheduled for Dec. 6, and Toombs indicated students and parents will also be attending the touring presentation of “Ghosts of Christmas Past.”

Making the presentation for the CCAC was grant chair Jane Gatewood.

She noted any educators who were interested in obtaining a grant from the CCAC should visit the Clay County Arts Council, Inc., Facebook page.
