Piggott Chamber of Commerce Announces Special Events
The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce has announced an expansion of its annual Christmas Fest program to include the 12 Days of Christmas.
Beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, the chamber will host the annual Christmas Fest on the square in downtown Piggott. In keeping with tradition, the event will culminate with the annual Piggott Christmas Parade at 5 p.m. Afterward, the first of a number of special events will be held as the Piggott City Marker will be hosting a public reading of Christmas stories. The public is invited, and encouraged to attend the reading—which will serve to kick-off a schedule which runs through Friday, Dec. 21.
“We have events and special efforts going on each day, hosted by a different business or entity,” a spokesman said.
Following the Christmas Fest, the next offering will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, as the Treasure Chest will host a special children's event featuring the Giving Manger and Elf on the Shelf programs.
The next event will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, as the Matilda and Karl Pfeiffer Museum hosts the reading of children's stories at the Piggott Public Library.
From 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, Pearl's Auction House will host a children's Christmas movie at their location at 180 South Thornton Avenue, behind Fred's.
The fun will continue at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, as Madpie's, on the west side of the square, will host a visit from the Grinch, and will share the story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, Blue Sky Storehouse, on the east side of the square, will host readings for children and treats for the kids.
Set to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, First National Bank, Piggott Banking Center, will host Father Christmas' Stories of Christmas at the Piggott City Market. Fresh baked goods and other treats will also be provided to the children attending.
The Inn at Piggott will also host a pair of mother-daughter princess tea parties, set to begin at 4 p.m on both Monday, Dec. 17 and Tuesday, Dec. 18. A very limited number of tickets will be available for $10 per person, and may be purchased at the Piggott City Market.
An open house at the Inn at Piggott will also be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17. During the open house there will also be an Ice Princess program for the children, set to begin around 5. The Princess will also present her program at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Piggott City Market.
Beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, Piggott State Bank will host a children's program at Front Street Pizza, located on the northwest corner of the square. Free pizza and other treats will be available for the children.
At 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, Front Street Pizza will also be hosting the Emmanuel Baptist Church's production of A Living Christmas Story. Free pizza, and other treats for the children, will also be available.
The 12 Days of Christmas effort will conclude the evening of Friday, Dec. 21, at Southern Traditions, located on the northeast corner of the square. The offering will include the program “T'was the Night Before Christmas” and a special guest appearance by Santa Claus. Organizers noted free treats will also be provided for children attending.
