Burr E. Swann
Burr E. Swann, 81, of Jonesboro, Ark., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Burr was born on November 12, 1937, in Pocahontas, Ark., to Floyd “Jake” and Essie Parten Swann.
On December 7, 1962, Burr married the love of his life, Jean Foster. They were married for almost 56 years.
Burr was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, co-worker and friend. He loved his family and community, and was a member of the Church of Christ. Burr retired from the National Resource Conservation Service, and formerly served in the Piggott office.
Burr is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd “Jake” and Essie Parten Swann.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Foster Swann, of the home; son, Brock (Jeri Lynn) Swann, of Piggott, Ark.; daughters, Nancy (Marty) Felts, of Jonesboro, and Tonya Coomer, of Brookland, Ark.; grandchildren, Meagan Swann (Jeff) Priest, of Lake City, Ark., Jacob Felts, of Jonesboro, Brice (Rachel) Swann, of Louisville, Ky., Taylor Coomer (Clay) Starkey, of Clarkedale, Ark. and Burke Swann, of Piggott; great-grandchild, Scout Priest, of Lake City.
All services will be held at the Southwest Church of Christ, in Jonesboro, on Thursday, Nov. 29. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with the funeral service to immediately follow, beginning at 12 p.m. with Jimmy Adcox and Richard Akins officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesser Cemetery, near Pocahontas.
Honored to carry Burr to his final earthly resting place are Chris Harrell, Lance VanWinkle, Michael VanWinkle, Kent Coomer, Brent Coomer and Trent Holcomb.
The family has respectfully designated Gerald Felts, Jerry Cook, Doris Lee Williams, Larrell Austin, Allen “Blue” VanWinkle, Larry Holcomb, Mike Oliver, Charles Minton, Steve White and Rick Fielder as honorary pallbearers.
