Shelby Jean Scott
Shelby Jean Scott, 79, of Rector, Ark. passed from this life on December 3, 2018 at her residence.
She was born on January 21, 1939, to the late Edmond and Jewel (Walker) Smart in the Rector area. Shelby will be fondly remembered for her love of all animals which started in her early childhood. She was even able to charm the bees and walk up to the hive and withdraw the honey from them. She was always happy when her children and grandchildren gathered around. They all called her Mamie which she answered proudly. She had her own special little helper (Gage) who loved to help his Mamie any way he could and he even sat and watched the western shows with her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Scott; a daughter, Regena Branum; and her sister, Carolyn Smart.
She is survived by her daughters, Gayla Scott of Rector and Lori (Jon) Scott Bradshaw of Rector; two sons, Eddie Scott of West Plains, Mo. and Randy Scott of Rector; her grandchildren, Joseph Scott, Michelle Moody, Jennifer Branum Putt, Danielle Green, Dusty Scott and Brittany Bradshaw; great-grandchildren, Chelsey Scott, Chance Scott, Lexie Green, Lawson Green, Wyatt Moody, Silas Moody, Zoie Moody, Jacob and Jayden Moody, Madelyn Walton, Aubrey Putt, Kage Scott, Braeden Brummel, Ethan Brummel, Macy Bryan and a great-great granddaughter, Cecily Richmond.
Visitation will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, with the service starting at 1 p.m. at Irby/Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector. Interment will be in the Woodland Heights Cemetery, Rector.
