Piggott High FFA Qualifies Members for State

Members of the Piggott High School chapter of the FFA took part in the sub-area leadership competition held Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. By virtue of their high finishing positions, teams and individuals have qualified to compete in the upcoming state events.

Earning first place finishes were the Parliamentary Procedure Team and the Conduct of Chapters Meetings Team. Meanwhile, individual first place finishes went to Micha Harrell for Creed Speaking and Kaylee Smith for Extemporaneous Public Speaking. The members of the Parliamentary Procedure Team includes, Brent Gossett, Maggie Williams, Emma Shaw, Chandler Smart, Morgan Smart and Catie Hill. The members of the Conduct of Chapter Meetings team are Shawnee Latimer, Ethan Ralph, Bryon Poole, Olivia Woolard, Reece Dotson, Kayala Cole, Logan White, Cameron Collier, Elise Gossett, Emma Gossett, Natalie Boyd, Evan Hartwell, Nate Lemmons and Taylor Smart.

Also earning second place finishes were Presley Tullos for Farm Bureau Discussion Meet and Katelyn Jackson for Prepared Speaking.

The state events will be held April 22 to 24, in Hot Springs at State FFA Convention.

The advisor of the PHS chapter of the FFA is Casey Simpson.
