Long time Rector resident Mary Linam, most recently of Wynne, Ark., died December 30, 2018, in Wynne, at the age of 105. Linam was an active member of the Rector community for many years, and formerly operated a business in the city alongside her husband, Hughey.

A native of Bloomfield, Mo., following marriage Linam and her husband started an upholstery service in Rector. Over the years she became known for her handiwork, and many examples of her crochet work may still be found locally—most notably the Lord's Prayer which is on display at the Rector Community Museum.

Linam was also active as a member of the First Baptist Church, of Rector, and as a member of the Eastern Star. She spent over six decades as an active member of the Extension Service Home Demonstration Club, and was well-known for her efforts in the kitchen. Linan was also honored to be chosen as the Woman of the Year by the Rector Women's Club.

In recent years she and her husband of 80 years have lived in Wynne to be near family members.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the Rector First Baptist Church and the complete obituary may be found in that section of this website.
