John L. Moore
John L. Moore, 82, of Success, Ark., passed away on January 22, 2019, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.
Mr. Moore was born September 5, 1936, in Success. He was a retired farmer who enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He proudly served in the National Guard and was a member of Corning Masonic Lodge. In 1958, he received a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education from Arkansas State College. Later his family was named Clay County Farm Family of the Year for 1975 and 2014. During his life, he served on the Corning School Board for 23 years and on the Arkansas State School Board for five years. He was also past Chairman of the Clay County Democratic Party. Mr. Moore was a member of Success First Baptist Church in Success, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.
On Oct. 15, 1959, he married Carolyn (Ennis) Moore, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Lisa (Joe) Jett of Success and Mona Tullos of Paragould; brother Paul (Dena) Moore of Corning; sisters Donna Ermert of Mountain Home and Alma Massey of Pocahontas; grandchildren Andy (Blayne) Jett, Logan (Molly) Jett and Noah Tullos; and great grandchildren Jackson, Easton and Mullen Jett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. and Mamie (McGraw) Moore.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Success First Baptist Church with Rev. Logan McCourtney and Bill Ennis officiating. Burial will be at Hitt Cemetery in Success.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Jett, Logan Jett, Noah Tullos, Terry Bryant, Terry Miller and Joel Tullos. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Success First Baptist Church.
