Make-A-Wish Daddy Daughter Dance Set
As the month of January draws to a close, members of the Piggott area Make-a-Wish Foundation fundraising team are wrapping up plans for the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance. This year's special event will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Piggott Community Center. Admission is a donation to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and dads and daughters of all ages are invited to attend.
This marks the fourth year for the dance, which in the past has generated thousands of dollars for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The popular event includes door prizes, refreshments and a dance contest.
The dance is just one of many local fundraisers for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, which will also benefit from the Piggott Heritage Car Show air band contest, set for May. Of course, the major fundraiser for the local group, and those region-wide, will be the Have-A-Heart roadblocks.
“The annual roadblock will be held at Country Mart in Piggott all day on Friday, Feb. 15,” noted volunteer Geraldine Crawford. “This is the fifth year for the roadblock, and we've raised over $40,000 these past few years—and I think that's amazing for our little town.”
Once again this year local volunteers will be working the roadblock, with assistance from PHS students including Mohawk football players. In addition to Crawford, the local Make-a-Wish committee includes Mistie Gossett, Debbie Harrell, Kim Donner and Jenna Mobley.
