Once again this year, volunteers from across Northeast Arkansas will be manning roadblocks to collect funds in the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Have-a-Heart Wish-a-Thon. The roadblocks will be set up at various locations across the region from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15.

As in years past, there will be roadblocks set up in Piggott and Rector, although the Piggott location has been moved from previous years. This year the collection will be going on at the stoplight, at the intersection of Highways 49/1 and U.S. Highway 62. Meanwhile, the collection site in Rector is at the intersection of Highways 49/1 and Main Street.

Recently, the local Make-a-Wish group held their annual Daddy-Daughter dance at the Piggott Community Center, with nearly $7,000 raised. In the past several years over $40,000 has been generated in the Piggott area.

In addition to the collection sites in Piggott and Rector, there will be roadblocks at Paragould, Jonesboro, Bono, Bay, Trumann, Blytheville, Harrisburg, Marked Tree, Walnut Ridge and Weiner.

The funds raised from the Have-a-Heart Wish-a-Thon are used to grant wishes for children across the region, including those in Clay County.
