Thelma Louise Ellis
Thelma Louise Ellis, Louise as she insisted on being called, was born April 23, 1931, in Piggott, Arkl, to Frank and Nelda (Johnson)Settlemoir. She left this earth behind and entered into the arms of Jesus on February 13, 2019, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. On December 24, 1952, she was united in marriage to Rev. J.D. Ellis and to this union two children were born.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother Curtis Settlemoir.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy and husband Mitch of Jonesboro; her son Jim and wife Janna of Campbell Station, Ark.; two granddaughters, Amber and husband Brandon Johnson and Mandy Eubanks all of Jonesboro; five great-grandchildren, Breanna Johnson, Sarah Josephine Eubanks Lassiter, Ashton Marie Eubanks Lassiter, Adele Johnson, and Thomas Johnson, all of Jonesboro; her brother Vernon and wife Peggy Settlemoir of Sherwood, Ark.; sister Glenda Crismon of Midwest City, Okla.;and a host of family and friends.
Louise served alongside her husband at Piggott General Baptist Church, Mary’s Chapel and Union Home where she made many life long friends. She was a hard worker and enjoyed many years working at The Piggott Times. She was always the one behind the camera and liked capturing memories of family, friends and events in Piggott.
The family would like to thank the staff on Station One at Craighead Nursing Center for the excellent care they provided Mom the last four years.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, with funeral services immediately following with Dr. Adrian Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Piggott Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Louise’s favorite charity, St. Jude, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105; any pet shelter; or a charity of your choice.
