Piggott School Board Meets, Renews Contracts
Board members briefly discussed diesel bids at their regular meeting Monday night. During the gathering they reviewed two, one was from Watson Oil and the other Home Service Oil. Ultimately, the board unanimously approved of the bid from Home Service Oil out of Poplar Bluff for a total of $20,553.03.
After nearly an hour-and-a-half in executive session, the board reconvened. As per Superintendent Barry DeHart's recommendation, the board unanimously approved the rehiring of elementary school principal Brock Swann, while also unanimously approving to rehire Paul Seegraves as high school principal for the 2019-2020 school year. Additionally, the board rehired Erica Harris as the elementary assistant principal.
Furthermore, board members reviewed and unanimously approved the school board legal liability insurance, purchased for a total of $6,670 from BXS Insurance.
Also, the school board unanimously accepted the proposed budget of expenditures and tax levy for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020, extending to and including June 30, 2021. There were no changes to this proposed budget, as they approve it annually. The complete budget may be found in the Feb. 27, edition of the CCTD.
In addition, the board unanimously approved the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting and the financial reports.
Superintendent DeHart only had two updates for the board. He reminded them the Special Olympics basketball skills competition will take place March 1, at PHS and indicated all juniors will be taking the ACT test today, Wed., Feb. 20.
