Lady 'Hounds Advance in 2A State

The Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds advanced over Danville Tuesday afternoon in their first round 2A state basketball tournament game at Carlisle. The Lady 'Hounds took the Lady Little Johns into overtime, pulling out a 72-66 win.

Leading the way was freshman Heidi Robinson in her first state tourney appearance with 30 points while junior Reesa Hampton was close behind with 28. The Marmaduke girls will now await the winner of today's Bigelow-Murfreesboro game with the contest set for 7 p.m. on Thursday.

The Lady Bearkatz of Melbourne had little trouble advancing to the second round as they beat Hector 75-24. Riverside and Earle's teams will see action Thursday in the girls bracket as they face Lavaca and Cotter.

The Marked Tree and Clarendon boys also advanced on Tuesday, with the Indians beating Eureka Springs 57-44 while the Lions pounded Flippin 68-30.

EPC and Earle's boys will see action Thursday as they take on Yellville-Summit and Mountainburg.
