Bonnie Virginia Calhoun
Bonnie Virginia Calhoun, 91, of Rector, Ark., passed away Friday, March 1, 2019, at home surrounded by loving family.
Mrs. Calhoun was born in Joplin, Mo., on December 11, 1927. She was a homemaker who loved taking care of and spending time with her family. She enjoyed listening to olí time gospel music and was Apostolic Pentecostal in faith.
She married her love of her life and husband of 67 years, James Cleties Calhoun, on Feb. 18, 1943. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2010.
She is survived by 12 children, Donald Calhoun and wife Geraldine of Corning, Ark., Virginia Caughron of Trumann, Ark., Evelyn and husband Sam of Greenway, Ark., Dennis Calhoun of Greenway, Ark., Gloria and husband Jim Crittenden of Piggott, Ark., Nellie and husband Dink Butler of Piggott, Darrell Calhoun and wife Luetta of Paragould, Ark., Jackie Calhoun and wife Sandy of Rector, Danny Calhoun and wife Rhonda of McDougal, Danny James Calhoun and wife Brandy of Corning, Teresa and husband Chuck Whitford of Briscoe, Mo. and Terry Burdin of Piggott; 32 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 64 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other step grandchildren and in-laws that bring the total number of surviving family members to 314.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son Donnie Calhoun; granddaughter Sandy Jo and grandson Darren Poe; father Onan Sprouse; mother Lou Liza (Lane) Johnson; step-father Orvell Thoursland; seven brothers; seven sisters; sons-in-law Jerry Caughron and Phil Davis; and daughters-in-law Teresa Calhoun and Becky Calhoun.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel, with Shawn Parker and Terry Burdin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Post Oak cemetery in McDougal.
