Leona Sanders, 91, of Ozark, Mo., passed away March 1, 2019, at her home.
She was born on April 18, 1927, and was the daughter of Fred and Martha (Hollis) Cowgill.
Leona was united in marriage to John Sanders on Sept. 25, 1945.
Leona was a member of the Church of Christ in Ozark. She worked as a beautician for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Martha Cowgill; brothers, Cleadis Cowgill, Jimmy Cowgill and F.H. Cowgill; sisters, Ethel Donahue and Mabel Laws.
Survivors include her husband, John Sanders of Ozark, Mo.; sons, Richard Sanders of Battlefield, Mo. and Michael Sanders of Ozark, Mo.; grandsons, Adam (Gail) Sanders of Hedgeville, W.V.. and Aaron Sanders of Marionville, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Brett and Carlin Sanders; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, at the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Ark., with Bro. Ted Koontz officiating. Burial was in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Ark. Pallbearers were Brad Fox, Doug Fox, Newton Wells, Allen Branson, Larry Simpson and Aaron Sanders. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, of Piggott, was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to services, at the funeral home.
