CCAC Art Show is Set
The board of directors of the Clay County Arts Council has announced its annual art show and reception will be held beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at the Piggott Community Center. The reception is catered by Three Little Pigs Bakery of Fagus, Mo.
“Art teachers in elementary and high schools across Clay County have received packets of information with notice that the CCAC Board has increased the number of entries in each of the age/grade level categories,” noted John James, CCAC Board member and chair of the event. “The art has been so good and attendance for the reception and awards ceremony has been fabulous in the past few years and we look forward to the event again this year.”
Each year, art teachers prepare the students’ art pieces and have them submitted to the Community Center in Piggott according to packet instructions. In turn, professional judges evaluate the works and award ribbons in each grade level group and award a best of show. The three area judges, led by former art teacher Debbie Robinson, will work during Saturday morning, evaluating, judging and noting their choices for the awards.
The reception is being held from 2 to 4 p.m. with art teachers on hand to assist in presenting the ribbons to the students.
Event organizers also note teacher art grants in the amount of $100 each will be presented to Clay County art teachers who are on hand for the event. In turn, the funds are used for extra art materials and supplies for the teachers’ classrooms. Cash awards for first, second and third place art winners will also be presented to students present at the event.
