Rector's Max Ford Named All-State for Basketball

The high school basketball season concluded last weekend with the state championship games, and on Monday recognition for players was announced by the Arkansas Activities Association. Among those earning individual honors were two local players, and several from the region.

The Melbourne Lady Bearkatz beat the Riverside Lady Rebels for the fourth time this year Saturday night, downing their 2A-3 conference mates 48-23 in the state championship game at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs. Afterward, post season basketball honors were announced including All-State and All-State Tournament team.

Named as an All-State selection for the Rector Cougars was junior Max Ford, who was also named to the All-State team in football last fall. Meanwhile, Marmaduke Lady Greyhound junior Reesa Hampton was also afforded All-State recognition.

Others from 2A-3 named All-State included Reagan Rappert of Melbourne, who also garnered MVP honors in the final Saturday night, along with Riverside freshman Carolina “Bean” Hoffman. Boys named from 2A-3 in addition to Ford were Dax Gipson of Bay, Tray Brown of Marked Tree and Jordan Dail of Sloan-Hendrix.

Named to the All-State Tournament team were Rapert, Josie Roark and Kiley Webb of the champion Lady Bearkatz; Carolina “Bean” Hoffman and Lotti Hoffman of the runner-up Riverside Lady Rebels along with freshman Heidi Robinson of Marmaduke.

Boys named to the All-State Tournament team from 2A-3 included Israel Malone of Marked Tree and Jonathan Gilmore of EPC.
