Earl Devon Young
Earl Devon Young, 88, of McDougal, Ark., passed away March 20, 2019, at Corning Therapy and Living Center in Corning, Ark.
He was born on June 4, 1930, in McDougal, and was the son of John "Buster" and Bertha (Stanley) Young.
Devon was united in marriage to Norma Dean Read on July 23, 1948. He served in the United States Navy being honorably discharged in 1949. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma Young; grandson, Matthew Young; great-grandson, Ross Young; sister, Velma Rigdon; brothers, Denzil Young and Donald Young.
Survivors include his children, Franklin (Diane) Young of Milan, Mich., Michael (Nancy) Young of Hernando, Miss., Marianna (Freddy) Bowers of McDougal and Timothy Young of Bartlett, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jody Bowers, Jeremy Bowers, Jason Bowers, Justin Young, Curtis Young, Stephanie Squire and Melissa Mansuy; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Winifred Johnson; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, March, 25, at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott, Ark. The funeral service immediately followed at noon, with Johnny Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Ark. His grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, of Piggott, was in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Home in Paragould, Ark.
