The Rector Lady Cougars hosted the Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds in 2A-3 conference softball action on Monday afternoon and fell in extra innings 4-3. The RHS girls staked the Lady 'Hounds to a 1-0 lead early, then came back to take a 3-1 advantage. MHS scored two runs in the sixth to tie the game at 3-3. In the seventh the Lady Cougars had the winning run at second, but could't advance. Marmaduke responded with a run in the top of the eighth, then held on in the home half of the inning, to post the win. With the loss the Lady Cougars fall to 1-1 while the Lady Greyhounds improve to 2-2 with the win. The Rector girls are slated to make the trip to Melbourne on Thursday, along with the baseball team, for conference play with the Bearkatz.

Meanwhile, the Lady Mohawks had no answer for Rivercrest Tuesday afternoon, as they were run-ruled by the talented Lady Colts in the home opener at Independence Park. They're scheduled to take on another conference foe Thursday as the Manila Lady Lions were scheduled to come to town. They'll also be at home next Thursday as they host Trumann.
