The Piggott Mohawk baseball squad suffered their first loss of the season Monday afternoon, falling at home in conference play to the Manila Lions.

On Tuesday they visited Trumann and came up on the short end of a 1-0 decision, and Wednesday afternoon Walnut Ridge roughed them up at home to a tune of a 17-1 loss.

Saturday they're slated to visit the Rivercrest Colts for a double-header, with the first game set to begin at 1 p.m. They'll kick-off the month of April on Monday with a home game against the Hoxie Mustangs.

Meanwhile, the Rector Cougars powered to a 12-2 win over conference rivals Marmaduke Monday afternoon at the Athletic Sports Complex. Senior Evan Dooley got the start, with freshman John Ford Hendrix coming on in relief. Both also helped their cause with strong showings at the plate.

The Cougars will be on the road at Melbourne on Thursday, making the trip to take on the Bearkatz along with the softball team. They'll return home for a conference game with Marked Tree on Friday and are slated to host Sloan-Hendrix on Monday to begin the month of April. On Tuesday they're scheduled to visit the Riverside Rebels at Lake City.
