After winning the crown in the Miss Teen Arkansas competition, Maggie Williams has secured a spot in the Miss Teen USA competition slated for April 28, in Reno, Nev. The current titleholder, Hailey Colborn, will present the new Miss Teen USA with the crown.

In preparation for her trip to Reno for the competition, family and friends gathered Sunday evening for a send-off party at Southern Traditions.

The competition will consist of contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The schedule will include a preliminary interview, along with athletic wear and evening gown presentation, which will help the judges select the semifinalists who will continue. These semifinalists will then advance to compete in athletic wear, evening gown, final question and final look.

Whomever is crowned Miss Teen USA will spend her time developing and fulfilling goals, as well as traveling in order to expand her charitable platform. The title also includes a scholarship for further education, access to Miss Universe Organization's global network that opens opportunities for careers, a personal appearance wardrobe and the opportunity to attend special events, such as fashion weeks, sporting events and red carpets.

Williams is a junior at Piggott High School, and the daughter of Shannon and Travis Williams.

While preparing for the competition, Maggie attended New York Fashion Week, spent a week in Dallas for bootcamp and traveled to Atlanta and modeled for Sherri Hill. She explains she has also “worked religiously on interview and public speaking skills.” Additionally, Maggie has worked closely with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, as well as the American Heart Association from a “volunteer and advocacy standpoint.”

Maggie's future plans include furthering her modeling career and pursing a future in the outdoor entertainment field. She states she is “passionate about government and legislation; so in the meantime [she] will be deciding which college best suits [her].” She plans to major in Political Science and Pre-Law in the fall of 2020.

The Miss Teen USA event will be streamed live on www.missteenusa.com on April 28.
