The Rector Community Museum will be hosting two events the weekend of April 27 and 28, combined to offer the public “something for everyone.” The museum will be hosting its grand opening that weekend, with the special open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. The museum will also be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 28.

Following the traditional ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, light refreshments will be served.

To add to the festive occasion, the art department of the Rector School District will be hosting their annual student art show at the museum. Students and parents are invited to attend, and will have a chance to admire the work accomplished this year as well as learn about the history of the community.

Joel Boyd, Rector art teacher and professional artist, will be on hand to visit with the students and members of the community. His much-admired mural is located across the street from the museum, on the side of the Rector Downtown Drug building. The mural was commissioned to showcase Rector's history.

The Rector School District will also host a reception at the museum the evening on Monday, April 29.

the Rector Community Museum is located at 310 Main Street in Rector, in the historic Underwood Furniture building.
