Postseason is underway for local softball teams, as regional play is slated for next week.

Lady Cougars

After advancing out of the first round in a home game with Bay, the RHS girls avenged an earlier home loss to the Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds Tuesday afternoon as they traveled down the road to MHS and eliminated the host team by a final score of 11-5. The victory also earned the RHS girls a spot in next week's regional at McCrory. Barring any change of schedule, they're slated to take on top-seeded Salem at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Melbourne. The other semi-final is scheduled to follow around 6:30, and the championship game is set for 5 p.m. on Friday—also at Melbourne High School.

Lady Mohawks

The Tribe played their first round district tournament game at Trumann on Tuesday, and the PHS softball squad saw their season come to an end at the hands of Walnut Ridge by a final score of 16-1.

Additional details and stats may be found in the May 1 print edition of the CCTD.
