Mohawks Robertson and Lewis Qualify for 3A State Track Meet
The Piggott Mohawk senior track teams took part in the 3A-3 district meet at Osceola on Monday, and two distance runners qualified for the upcoming state meet. Competing in the new blended conference, which includes larger schools such as Trumann and Gosnell, the Tribe had difficulties scoring points and had no members of the boys team qualify for state for the first time in over 10 years.
Sophomore Katelyn Robertson continued to dominate the regional competition in the 3200, as she took first for the third meet in a row. Meanwhile, Willow Lewis ran second in the 800, and qualified for state as well for PHS. They'll be competing on Tuesday in the 3A state meet, being held at Green Forest High School.
