Rector LEGO Team Set for National Competition
The Rector Cougars Lego League Team will be leaving for California on May 15, to compete in the FLL North American Open Championship at Legoland.
“We would like to say thank you to all of the individuals who supported us through buying raffle tickets, chicken plates or simply making donations! Also, thank you to all of the businesses that sponsored our team,” team sponsor Lance Mabrey said. “All of you helped make this trip possible! We are looking forward to representing our school, our community and the state of Arkansas.”
Since they qualified for the nationals earlier this year, members of the team have conducted a number of fundraisers as noted. They've also solicited donations, and according to Mabrey the response has been great. Among those they wished to extend thanks were-their friends, families and supporters along with, Duncan Chiropractic, Glen Sain, Irby Funeral Home, Midwest Auto Parts, White and Associates, Crancer Agency, Nidec Motor Corporation, Jerry Jones Trucking, Allmon Dental, Tenneco, Rabo Finance, General Cable, Clay County Electric, Farm Credit Midsouth, Primetals Technologies, Sigsby Real Estate, Baker Implement, Graves Gin, Rector Downtown Drug, Wimberly Enterprises, Outlaw's Garage, Bayird Dodge, Jones Furniture, Peco, Piggott State Bank, Arkansas Electric, Farm Source Ag, Dr. Bryan Blackshare and Centennial Bank.
“A special "thank you" also goes out to the Rector School District and the Rector School Board for being huge supporters of our team for the past five years! Thank you for investing in our students,” Mabrey added.
The team includes Ben Schimming, Anna Isom, Jackson Lynn, Chloe McCurry, Jaydin Stirnaman, Jaxon Burns, Libby Green, Maggie Rabjohn, Emma Holmes and Austin Simmons.
