Maxine Elizabeth Craft

Maxine Elizabeth Craft, 88, of Paragould, Ark., and previously of the Knob community, passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 13, 2020, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born on August 7, 1931, to the late Arthur W. and Emma Althea Massey in Greenway, Ark.

Maxine and Woodrow Ezra Craft were married for 55 years and had two sons, Philip Craft and husband Robert Carlson, of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Mark Craft and wife Traci, of Paragould, along with three amazing grandchildren that were the “apple of Maxine’s eye”--Bailey, Jade and Lily Grace.

Maxine was a lifelong member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church, a board member of Rock Springs United Methodist Cemetery and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She took so much personal pride in the upkeep of the cemetery, the church and taking care of the steps leading down to the spring. She devoted her life to taking care of others. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and in the later years just watching the sunset everyday.

Maxine and Woodrow owned and operated Craft’s Grocery, in Knob, for over 50 years. Over those 50-plus years, they developed lifelong friends and were so proud to serve the neighbors of the Knob community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Arthur; her sisters, Nina Fay Massey, Tommie Sue Massey, Charlotta Lucia, Norma Lou Krause, Carmeletta Massey, Carolyn Novak and Betty Hargraves.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Hill; brothers, Larry Massey and Wallace Massey; along with many nieces, nephews, her very special caregiver Bridget Earls, and many other special friends and family members.

Due to the coronavirus, there will not be a funeral service at this time. A “Celebration of Life” will be scheduled later in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation at or P.O. Box 2222, Little Rock, Ark., 72203, 800-880-7491 or Rock Springs United Methodist Church-Cemetery, c/o Pat Miller, 210 North McKinley Avenue, Corning, Ark., 72203.
