Piggott MLWS Updates Customers Amid Pandemic

Last week, Piggott MLWS updated customers on the continuing response to the virus outbreak, and related financial issues.

“We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be experiencing surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak and are committed to being responsive to the needs of our customers, employees and community as the situation evolves.

As our community continues to feel the increased impact of the Coronavirus, we feel it is important to share with you what we are doing to help keep people safe and healthy,” a news release noted. “We are navigating this situation by following CDC guidelines, coordinating with local and state officials, staying aligned with industry protocol, and adapting as new information is made available.”

City offices have been closed to the public since March 17, and will continue to be closed until further notice. But, despite the closure the staff is available at 598-3243 and 598-3791. In the meantime, payments can be made by way of the night-drop box, over the phone or online.

Online payments by phone, or by third-party payment processor may be paid by calling 877-885-7968, although customers must know their account numbers. Bills may also be paid online at www.cityofpiggott.org

Meanwhile, those wanting to pay city finds may do so at www.myfinepayment.org

“For customers experiencing difficulties paying their utility bills, please contact our office to make payment arrangements. We are offering delayed payment arrangement plans and extra extension periods for customers affected by the virus,” the release continued. “We will do our best to contact you if arrangements have not been made in a timely manner. Our ability to disconnect services is currently limited, but will be exercised if no arrangement is made for an extended period of time.”

City officials also noted financial assistance can be granted through the BRAD Home Energy Assistance Program. Applications are accepted at their offices from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays at the BRAD office, 1403 Main Street, Corning. “We commend all of you for your cooperation and adaptivity in these trying times and will continue to provide the best service possible to our residents and customers,” the release concluded.
