District Court to Resume With Guidelines
Clay County District Court will resume holding court sessions in Rector and Piggott beginning next Tuesday, June 2. Rector Court will be at the Municipal building in Rector beginning at 9 a.m. By order of Judge David Copelin, in an effort to help facilitate social distancing, people whose last name begins with the letters A through L will appear at 9 a.m. and those whose name begins with the letters M through Z will appear at 9:45 a.m.
Piggott court will begin at 12 noon for those whose name begins with the letter A through L while those whose name begins with the letters M through Z will appear at 1:30 p.m.
Copelin indicated the following rules apply to both courts: only the defendant will be allowed in the courtroom, and only one defendant will be allowed in the courtroom at a time. People should be prepared to sit in their vehicle, or at least not gather in groups, and to practice social distancing. The bailiff will call the names of each person. Each person will be required to complete a questionnaire concerning any previous risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Each person will be required to wear a face mask or covering. Each person will have their temperature taken by having their forehead scanned.

Rector and Piggott District Court is in session on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
