Piggott City Hall, MLWS Reopens to Public
Although there are restrictions, the City of Piggott offices reopened to the public last week. According to city officials, until further notice the lobby areas of the city offices are restricted to one customer at a time. MLWS customers, and those making other payments, are also encouraged to continue to use the drop box unless it is necessary to pay inside.
“MLWS will not assess late fees for balances not paid before May 10, 2020,” the city announced on its Facebook page. “Delayed payment arrangement plans will no longer be available after May 10, unless customer has experienced a lack of employment due to COVID-19 outbreak.” They indicated disconnection procedures resumed as normal as of May 18.
MLWS officials also encouraged customers experiencing difficulty paying their utility balances to contact BRAD Energy Assistance for funding through the now-expanded LIHEAP Funding Program.
